The Chancellor, through the Council on University Community (CUC), has created the Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund. The purpose of the fund is to support faculty, staff, and student initiatives promoting the daily value of diversity in the intellectual life of the campus. Proposals may include educational activities that promote understanding of diversity; projects that enhance the campus climate for diversity, and foster a culture of inclusion and respect; and efforts to promote diversity through relationships with the Charlotte community. Awards may be up to $5,000.
- To address issues related to the multiple dimensions of diversity including but not limited to gender equity and gender expression, age, class, culture, differing physical and learning abilities, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, and Veteran status.
- To promote a campus environment in which differences between people are recognized, understood, and accepted in all areas of academic and community life.
- To serve as an advocate and catalyst for continuing learning and growth in the understanding of diversity so that students, staff, and faculty are engaged participants in an increasingly diverse world.
Activities that engage members of the campus community in diversity and inclusion efforts; and collaborative projects, which connect different groups, departments, or organizations at the University are encouraged.
A one-page summary may be submitted to the COUC for discussion at any time during the year. Additionally, applicants may request assistance with writing proposals, if needed.
